What perpetuates the myth that Bitcoins are anonymous and the stuff of super-spies? Cash is anonymous and reduces the power of law enforcement, not a currency that comes with a public audit trail.
- DanBC 13y agoCash is individually numbered. It's not always that anonymous.
- AnIrishDuck 13y agoIf anything, bitcoin is a law enforcement dream. I don't understand why anarchists seem to love it, given the information it will ultimately put in the hands of the government. It's practically the definition of a trojan horse.
- est 13y agoI kinda feel the same way. In the future, no private pool can hold the whole transaction history, only governments can.
- walden42 13y agoThis might change after enough bitcoin applications implement CoinJoin, a type of mixer.
- 3pt14159 13y agoNo it isn't. Only if you are stupid does it compromise you.
- betterunix 13y agoAnarchists love Bitcoin because it is "currency without a central authority." They see that and ignore everything else.
- ivanca 13y agoThey have to prove the owner of the recipient wallet, which is already pretty hard, especially if you are using something like Tor.
- orblivion 13y agoWell, now you can spend cash on the Internet. Is Silk Road a big deal or not? Also, if Zerocoin is added, then it can be fully anon.
- Karunamon 13y agoit's pseudo anonymous. I send 1 bitcoin to a wallet. You are law enforcement. Prove the owner of the recipient wallet. good luck with that.
