    The whole "8 kids" thing is off-putting for a lot of people. It's certainly not a great idea, but I feel that, even for people with few or no children, catastrophic failure is still lurking in the shadows, ready to reach out and drag them into the abyss. The best thing you can do is acknowledge its presence and build your defenses by prudently saving and spending.
