Attacked old people in restaurants? You mean the fascist fucks?
What trinkets?
In and out of prison and probation for years. Wow, that means nothing, especially when you consider what those were for.
I didn't talk to him "on a daily basis" and had many disagreements with him, at times coming to near physical confrontation. But you are a tool.
- tptacek 13y agoYou don't get to assault old people in restaurants because they're "fascists". These weren't fascists; they were Nazi apologists and Holocaust deniers. The worst. You still don't get to storm restaurants and assault them. The Nazi restaurant incident is an interesting microcosm of the whole Hammond case.
- angersock 13y ago"I hate Illinois Nazis." In all seriousness, would you have a link to that story? Hadn't heard of that.
- dandelany 13y agoThe original article seems to have disappeared but here's an archived version on a newsgroup: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/soc.culture.israel/quoW_J8gTR8 https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/soc.culture.israel/q... Really glad this was brought up because I just realized an old acquaintance of mine was also arrested at the same event along with Hammond O_O. Add that to the fact that my credit card was leaked as a part of the Stratfor hack, and the fact that I happened to live 2 blocks away from where Sabu did, and I have an unsettling number of weird connections to this case.
- tptacek 13y agoWeirdly enough, the near-north suburbs of Chicago do have a problem with old, holocaust-denying Nazis. Another ironic dimension to the restaurant assault and its parallels to the whole Hammond case: the one guy that got injured in that incident was injured by a protester, and had nothing to do with the Nazis; he was just an innocent bystander.
- kungfooguru 13y agoIf you think people like that get rights, sure. But they also drove them out, someone happened to be hit by an object. You make it sound like they shit-kicked some old people. Which is bullshit.
- tptacek 13y agoYou're right. I made it sound like they shit-kicked some old Nazis. Actually, all they did was hit some random uninvolved person with a bottle. Sorry, though, they all get rights.
- steveklabnik 13y agoNazi apologists aren't fascists?
- tptacek 13y agoThey are worse than fascists.
- steveklabnik 13y agoFair enough. :) I'd consider that statement _and_ "they're facsists" to be true, personally.
- jacalata 13y agoHow can those both be logically true? 'y is x, and y is worse than x'?
- steveklabnik 13y agoI wasn't writing in a strictly logical sense. "These people are worse than your run-of-the-mill fascists" or "these are the worst fascists" is something that's formulated in a way that sounds less contradictory.
- jamesaguilar 13y agoY is in set X, and Y is worse than the typical member of the set X.
- jlgreco 13y agoNot categorically. I've had the displeasure of meeting a holocaust denier that was pretty into Occupy shit, anti-corporatism, and communal living (I think the common thread there was the "Bankers are Jewish" stereotype. We're talking about people with critical thinking deficiencies, consistency is not a given...)
