  Valve might not exist were it not for id. In their early days Valve licensed id's Quake engine for use as the technical foundation of Half-Life.

    Also: Sorry, I thought the topic was PC gaming? EDIT: Specifically my L4D comment was in response to: "A relic from the time when PC gaming was exciting and relevant."

    And supposedly the Id guys had zero confidence that the Valve guys were going to come up with anything cool.
