Just for fun, I'm working on a small Docker distribution for the Pi using 3.12 + uClibc + BusyBox. It's currently ~13 MB but can probably be reduced more.
If you're interested in doing it yourself, I've just been using rpi-buildroot[1] and tweaking it.
