Thanks everyone, these are really helpful comments. I work the best in the mornings, so I'm adding a suggestion to my own post: Figure out when you work the best, and use that time to your advantage. Work with colleagues during your toughest times and motivate each other. Tackle administrative tasks when you're not at your best. Now I'm going to take my own advice and get off HN.
