- henning 17y agoAh, id software. A relic from the time when PC gaming was exciting and relevant.
- bep 17y agoWhen it stopped to be exciting or relevant?

- gojomo 17y agoAnd what's with all these kids on your lawn?
- csbrooks 17y agoLeft 4 Dead. 'Nuff said. (Yeah I know you can play on 360, but it's not as cool.)
- hypermatt 17y agoL4D is from valve ...
- sutro 17y agoValve might not exist were it not for id. In their early days Valve licensed id's Quake engine for use as the technical foundation of Half-Life.
- csbrooks 17y agoAlso: Sorry, I thought the topic was PC gaming? EDIT: Specifically my L4D comment was in response to: "A relic from the time when PC gaming was exciting and relevant."
- csbrooks 17y agoAnd supposedly the Id guys had zero confidence that the Valve guys were going to come up with anything cool.
- die_sekte 17y agoHm. And I thought id would remain independent. (I haven't played even one of their games, just admired them.)
- defen 17y agoDoes this mean that Carmack is going to completely stop working on 3D engines in order to focus on rocketry or whatever he's into now?
- Hexstream 17y agoFrom the article: "id Software will continue to operate as a studio under the direction of its founder, John Carmack. No changes will be made in the operations of id Software in the development of its games. All the principals at id Software have signed long-term employment contracts, assuring they will continue in their roles developing games at the studio. “This puts id Software in a wonderful position going forward,” said John Carmack, who will continue to serve in his current role as Technical Director."
