Sometimes I have had to do a git push --force, usually when I want to amend a commit I pushed just a few minutes before and I know that no one else has used it.

Sometimes I have had to do a git push --force, usually when I want to amend a commit I pushed just a few minutes before and I know that no one else has used it. However, I always do a --dry-run first on a force push just to verify that it's only going to update the one branch I expect it to.
