The main feature is that Bitcoin facilitates cross-border funds transfers. It is particularly difficult in the US to receive funds from overseas and particularly cumbersome to send funds. Credit cards must be used with high fees and the necessity of merchant accounts. Foreign banks are usually a no-go for U.S. citizens. Bitcoin avoids all these issues.
