The Onion was in print??
- skwirl 13y agoThey've actually been around since 1988, initially only in print. I have personally never seen a print copy, either.
- BlackDeath3 13y agoOne of my high school teachers had stacks of Onion compilation books in the classroom. I was kicked out of that class more than once.
- dantheman 13y agoYeah, it was free paper in certain cities like nyc.
- n1cked 13y agoAnd almost everywhere in Wisconsin.
- mooreds 13y agoI picked it up in Boulder a number of times. Print was nice for all the reasons that any printed newspaper is nice--browsability, crosstalk between stories, portability, no power/screen required. Bummer that they had to cease print. But if it wasn't sustainable, it wasn't sustainable.
- jack-r-abbit 13y agoI had no idea either. Crazy.
- rallison 13y agoYup. I've picked up a few. I want to say I've seen them in San Francisco, in their own newspaper boxes.
- jaredsohn 13y agoThe Onion was a great perk of going to school in Madison (where it originated.)
- LandoCalrissian 13y agoIt was mainly in the mid west, they used to distribute it in Minneapolis up until like a year ago. It was a free deal that was in most places where you find community papers (Coffee shops, bars, etc.). I really enjoyed getting the new issue every Thursday. It was also cool that the AV Club section had a lot of local content. Doesn't shock me that they went this route, they had been dropping print cities pretty quickly.
