- sliverstorm 13y agoThis isn't 2013 Silicon Valley Developer Salary Survey.
- umsm 13y agoSilicon Valley isn't a long term investment. I don't see the people living there to settle down in the area.
- Greenisus 13y agoSpeak for yourself :) I moved here 5 years ago from the South (Memphis, TN) and I'm never going back.
- nilkn 13y agoThere are a ton of developers outside of Silicon Valley. I'm sure there have already been plenty of studies done focusing on the Bay Area specifically if that's all you care about, but a nationwide survey is helpful for indicating the state of the industry at large, including non-tech hubs where VC funding is not nearly as available. For a nationwide survey, I have to say these median salaries are actually pretty high. Very, very few careers requiring only a bachelor's degree can boast these numbers taken across the country.
- benmathes 13y ago80k as a US Average translates to about 120k in San Francisco, adjusted for cost of living. According to the startup jobs on angellist, SF is paying average salaries (adjusted for cost of living): https://angel.co/salaries https://angel.co/salaries PS: Where are these 200k salaries? I have 7 years of experience and would happily switch for <redacted> more money each year.
- k3n 13y ago> Where are these 200k salaries? If I were to guess, they're most likely in the Wall Street-powered high-frequency trading firms. That, and/or big pharma, big oil.
- ffrryuu 13y agoGoogle/Facebook pays a lot. Also, make sure to STATE the salary you want. Don't let them give you a salary number first. Welcome to the big league.
- reeses 13y agoUnfortunately, we're lumped in with "Pacific", so all those developers in San Bernardino and Sacramento are dragging us down.
