If it is a web app, use Google App Enigne. You don't have to know dbs for that (in fact it would hurt because you would have to unlearn stuff) and it is much easier to change than a traditional db schema. It will also save you from doing lots of admin stuff that you probably have no experience with. And it will scale out of the box.
