I've been fed up with Facebook's mobile app for a long time.
This is the main reason why I rarely use it, perhaps a few times a month, only when I really really have to check something.
When it comes to posting, I always use Buffer so Facebook's mobile app is only to browse my feed when bored.
Facebook's mobile app is extremely slow and bloated. Granted, it does a lot of things for us (all groups/pages etc) and to use us (extensive tracking).
I want something that tracks me less, gets rid of what I don't use and stays clean.
Today, Sunday Nov 3rd, I started creating my own Facebook mobile app, for fun.
Current functionality:
- sections: newsfeed, notifications and profile
- tap on thumb-up icon to like
- tap on on comment icon to see comments
- tap links to open
- tap images to load high-res
... the easiest way is for you to give it a try.
You can get it via TestFlight by going here: http://tflig.ht/16z5hmu http://tflig.ht/16z5hmu
Obviously I'd love to have everyone try it so you can tell me what is most important and what's breaking.
Please remember, this isn't a rebuild of Facebook's mobile app like Sencha (kinda) did with FastBook; this is a lightweight version.
Again, please try it out and share the link with friends: http://tflig.ht/16z5hmu http://tflig.ht/16z5hmu
I already have a list of things to fix and add but look forward to your feedback!
