The biggest issue here is that it's the middle level jobs that are being automated, which makes it increasingly harder for low skilled workers to work their way up over time. There was a good article in The Atlantic that discussed this a while back [1]. I'm not sure what the solution is, but increasing erosion of the middle class doesn't sound like a good thing.
