I showed the test to my wife who is a 2nd grade teacher in a school district implementing common core. She was appalled both at the grading and the test itself. Then I showed her that it was from Pearson and she exclaimed "That's your problem right there."
- mturmon 13y agoExactly. The concepts are appropriate (maybe not for this age though, I was unaware that NY first-graders could be only 5 in October), but the test is crap.

Here in Nevada the cut off is in September and so any child in first grade would be at least six years old by October. A month or two doesn't make a huge difference so perhaps their cutoff is in October or November.
