One should keep in mind though that divorce has about the same impact on a child as a death does, even worse in some cases. Now, you'd never suggest that a child cannot be "normal" if they've had a parent die, but you'd never suggest it wouldn't affect them in a big way either. I think as long as the realization is there, a parent can adapt.
