Hmm, I hadn't noticed but I do have a "service battery" warning as well. I don't use my personal laptop a lot anymore but it seemed to be drained every other time I would pick it up. So it does seem that something is amiss. I'm not too worried, it'll get fixed. Though to be honest, there is some risk of damage to the battery if the firmware is not doing its job properly. But Apple has usually done the "right thing" about big problems like this.
