You can use one of the WiFi SD cards for something like this. They're completely hackable, and run busybox linux.
This is an early article, an other people have gone so far as to add displays and other devices to them.

- nwh 13y agoThey all seem to be built on the same foundations, though the Transcend ones look to be the most popular. I've one sitting around but I haven't had a chance to do much with it except for confirming that the vulnerabilities exist.
