I like more 'physical' processes when it comes to ideas. Allows to take a step back, think about it for a moment. When I'm away from computer, I always have a moleskin notebook in my jacket pocket with a small pen. While working on my computer, I still like to have a whiteboard nearby to quickly draw something or stick a note on it. They are as simple as you can get, but they work totally fine :) Also, when it comes to ideas, I like the idea (of 37Signals, can't remember which book), that if it's a good idea - you will keep thinking of it and remember, if it's rubbish one - well you will forget it.
