If I felt competent enough to call myself a "10X developer, marketer and entrepreneur", I'd consider becoming a consultant. But I'm not anywhere near that stage yet, and there's a lot I can learn (and am learning) where I am right now. So, the argument can be a decent one (self-employment brings certain benefits that are inimical to working for a salary), but there are also trade-offs involved.
