This is silly. Just go southwest a few miles.
There is, for instance, a flat steps from the London Overground in South Norwood (http://www.zoopla.co.uk/to-rent/details/30891717 http://www.zoopla.co.uk/to-rent/details/30891717) that is going for £400/month (€470/month).
(It's unclear why you'd want such a long commute, versus living in far-away green suburbs by the train.)
- tuananh 13y agoIt's just away of saying rent in London is ridiculous. No one in their right mind would do as author said.
- DanBC 13y agoBut Barcelona is nice. Bow? Not so much.
- xxpor 13y agoFrom the description: "Men Only / No Females" What the hell? How is that legal?
- blibble 13y agoit isn't, landlords do it regardless
- adaml_623 13y agoTechnically a landlord is allowed to be very particular (e.g. discriminate) if they are also a resident in a dwelling.
- klipt 13y agoI've seen tons of Craigslist ads for roommates that say "females only". The irritating thing is that they usually say it at the bottom of the advert instead of in the title, so you waste time clicking on the link and reading it.
- saalweachter 13y agoIn New York City -- if I recall correctly -- the non-discrimination laws don't apply if you have a small owner-occupied building (less than six units, I think), or if you have shared living spaces (like a shared kitchen or bathroom). While it might not be fair in the grand scheme of things, it's somewhat understandable, since the vast majority of these buildings are essentially houses with a spare room or two that the owner rents out. I assume other cities and countries have similar exceptions in their laws.
- switch007 13y agoThat's a room, not an entire flat!
