Ask HN: Can someone explain how Launchpad works?

I like working on open source projects and often enough I'm in luck in that they host their code on Github, Bitbucket, Google Code or SourceForge. However, every now and again I run into a project that's hosted on Launchpad and I basically give up on contributing to that project, because of Launchpad. My main reason for doing so is that I am completely incapable of understanding the Launchpad interface. I end up utterly lost, unable to get to code, issues or even find an issue I actually commented on. I'd much prefer it if Canonical fixed Launchpad as such an important tool should be easy to use and self-explanatory but in the mean time I am hoping someone can explain the basics of navigating around Launchpad to me and the rest of the world so we can once more contribute to awesome open source projects. P.S: This is, truly, a serious question. I have no idea how to work with Launchpad.
