I find such "artistic" projects to be contemptible. If you want to change society, you have to go through political, legal or commercial challenge, otherwise you will be ignored. There are already too many smug artist types who take up causes; your message will thus be drowned out.
- lymie 13y agoThe joke is that such political, legal, and commercial avenues are equally pointless. Even throwing huge sums of money, such as what the Koch brothers do, won't change the fundamental messages or opinions of average people. What an art project like this does is embrace that apathy and nihilism and simply express the artist's defeatist joy. It is a prank in the style of Banksy more than an art project. A scrawl on the wall to be painted over tomorrow, but who cares. The adventure is the doing, not the owning.
