Example climate science: Have two models, and see which one predicts the next decades better.
- jljljl 13y agoDon't good economists do the same? Economists also attempt to test micro-economic principles through controlled, randomized experiments, similar to how psychology experiments are conducted.
- yummyfajitas 13y agoHow is that a controlled experiment, or any different from what economists do? A controlled experiment in climate science/geophysics/etc would involve building two earths (or stars, in the case of astronomy), subjecting one to a treatment and using the other as a control.
- tedunangst 13y agoDo you have a link to an example of somebody doing that? All the headlines regarding climate science seem to be about fitting a curve to previous decades' data.
