It is worth mentioning that the libstdc++, in version 4.6.3 at least, it has implemented the Murmur and FNV hash function for user defined key types. If you want to use Murmur you use std::_Hash_impl::hash and for FNV you use std::_Fnv_hash_impl::hash. (Include bits/functional_hash.h) The implementation is at libsupc++/hash_bytes.cc
