What's the incentive for a retailer to offer the cheap HDMI sales? When deciding where to shop, people are influenced by the "sale price" on the Blu-Ray player, not the cables-- and most Blu-Ray player purchasers are not going to walk out of the store without a cable. So, might as well hook them for the over-priced one.
- JimmyL 17y agoYeah - likewise, if I've already spent $400 on a player, the sales pitch "you've made such a good investment in this piece of equipment, why ruin it all with cheap cabling" seems to sell itself.
- Tichy 17y agoCouldn't it also work the other way round, though? "Hey, they rip me off over the cables, maybe their players are not the cheapest ones either"?
