I stepped away from naming hosts the year I learned to use Puppet. After being able to create an infrastructure based on code, the idea of naming hosts just seemed pointless.
- rcfox 13y agoCan you elaborate on that? My company uses Puppet, but we've configured it to determine what to set up based on the hostname of the machine. (I have no idea if that's ideal, but it's what we've got.)
