The concept of WYSIWYM, which you casually tossed around, is really hard to grasp at a glance, which is mildly frustrating. (I did not downvote nor think there's reason enough for it. Just speculating) I took a look at the LyX web page, and it really didn't shed much light on the issue. "writing based on the structure of your document" added zero information to me. The screenshots look like a weird middle ground between WYSIWYG and TeX.
