Everytime I see "X in N lines of Y code" I want to choke somebody because it's a disingenuous metric. I know it sounds like I'm nit picking, but it's really a giant pet peeve of mine.

- DougBTX 17y agoHmm... "Open Source Android Scripting Environment includes Bar Code recognition API".
- EliAndrewC 17y agoIt can definitely be misleading, but it's still a useful metric. When I read "Android barcode scanner in 6 lines of Python code" my thought is, cool, there's clearly a good barcode scanning library for Android in Python and I can look and find easy 6-line examples of how to do something useful with it. This makes that style of headline much more useful to me than "Python/Android Barcode Scanning Library Example Code" or somesuch, because it gives me some idea of the level of effort required to do something useful with the library (in this case 6 lines).
