I believe that gwern is a little too obsessed about IQ.

  It's common on less wrong to be very pro-IQ. I think this is a mix of contrarianism and desperately wanting to be superior at something, since most people on less wrong don't seem to be terribly well-off in other respects. That said, it does seem like IQ correlates well with various other measures of success, unless all of the articles Gwern cites are wrong in some way (which is fairly probable), so you'd expect something to be there.
