The prison system isn't big because people think it's a good idea to have a lot of people in jail, it's because the private prison lobby ensures that various laws (like possession of drugs) keeps prisons full.
- epochwolf 13y agoEh... There's plenty of people in America that rejoice in disproportionate retribution. We have a huge culture problem. Not everything is a corporate conspiracy.
- astrodust 13y agoDon't confuse market pressures with a conspiracy. Is there a conspiracy to sell consumer goods on every street corner, and at a profit, too?
