Company I work for puts Windows XP on laptops designed for Windows Vista and Windows 7. If you think Linux has issues, try using these laptops. Lots of issues with getting out of standby, stability, using external monitors, etc. Fortunately we're now moving to Windows 7 so at least using a combination that is supposed to work together.
