Try to make sample webapp using Maven 2: http://cocoon.apache.org/2.2/1159_1_1.html http://cocoon.apache.org/2.2/1159_1_1.html I bet you will fail thanks to some random maven quirk:) Spring is just some Java library, XML/XSLT is too simple to break anything.
