Cisco, Google, SAP discussing BlackBerry bids
- Oculus 13y agoI'd be surprised if Google is doing this for anything, but the patents.
- adamnemecek 13y agoEnterprise customer acquisition?
- greenlakejake 13y agoGoogle already bought Motorola which has plenty of patents.Do they really need more?
- nobodyshere 13y agoWhen you mention patents in the USA, there cannot be enough.
- devx 13y agoI really, really hope Google buys the elliptic curve cryptography patents from Blackberry, and makes them public domain. ECC is the future of cryptography on the web, and we need them to be public domain. We may be able to work around them, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
- Tortoise 13y agoNone of the stories about potential bidders for Blackberry mention the Investment Canada Act. Essentially, because of its size, any foreign bid for Blackberry would have to be approved by the Canadian cabinet. The Act has only been used twice, but it's a possibility. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Investment_Canada_Act http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Investment_Canada_Act
