The trade-off is very simple - big screen or battery life.
BB believed users are not ready to trade productive phone use for browsing and multimedia. They were wrong.
First BB device on multimedia side of this trade-off is Z10. It has a big screen but short batter life. Otherwise fine device, I like it better than Galaxy S3.
