Ya it's all but dead these days. Private companies (like Moz with their Fresh Web Explorer) are trying to fill the gap. Google certainly look to be actively walling their data off. See also Google Keyword Tool which has took quite step backwards recently, and removing organic keyword sources "(not provided)" from Google Analytics. Bad times for marketers.
