As someone who has been a software developer for quite a long time, this statement makes a big assumption. A good software developer knows it is often far easier and faster to flip through a couple of hundred photos and process them with your meat-brain rather than write a one-off bit of software to do the matching, even if you start from an existing base like OpenCV or whatever.

  Having software running doesn't preclude using your brain - first to consider possible heuristics and then to do the types of analysis computers aren't good at. There's a reason mechanical turk exists.
