What I really found helpful was learning Racket. Common Lisp is a little less straight-forward and a little more complex, so Racket is awesome for learning the patterns you'll use to program with. I'm starting to move into Common Lisp now, because it has more useful tools and libraries available for making 'proper' programming easier.
