The company and your boss has lost all credibility and trust with you.
They are hiding from you, and not disclosing to you your situation and their situation. This is absolutely unworkable and unacceptable.
I am assuming you are in the United States.
Arrive early at the office and clear out any valuables and documents and personal items that belong to you, as well as documents showing that you are owed wages.
Before going to work write down the facts of your situation, for future reference.
Inquire in person with your supervisor as to whether you will be paid that day, and if not, whether you are being dismissed. If you are not being dismissed, inquire as to how you will work if you are not paid according to the laws of your state.
Assuming you are not paid, and not dismissed, and no agreement has been made to issue you a promise to pay you signed by an officer of the corporation, work until the end of the work day, through the regulatory period the company is required to act to pay you.
Following the failure to pay you at the end of the statutory day, demand that they pay you verbally, and in writing for all wages that are due to you, including vacation time and other benefits due to you.
Indicate in your verbal statement and your letter that the company has failed in its obligations. Indicate that your letter is being copied and sent to the appropriate wages and labor regulatory authority as a demand for pay. Indicate you interpret the actions of the company as a layoff.
Most states have a labor and wages regulatory department.
Example:
California Department of Industrial relations. How to file a wage claim.
http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/howtofilewageclaim.htm http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/howtofilewageclaim.htm
In New York, there are both civil and criminal penalties for failure to pay wages. In some jurisdictions, the officers of a company are double or triply liable for failure to pay wages.
Indicate at the end of the day that you interpret the failure to be paid as a layoff. File a claim against the company for failure to follow the law and pay wages.

- kulachilli 13y agoThanks a lot for your detailed response. I really appreciate it. I would definitely hope the situation is better. In fact, we had not even been given pay stubs for over half a year. My coworkers and I had asked individually and we never got them.
- kordless 13y agoIgnore what geophile says above about being focused on pay. Not getting paid is a big deal and you should work it until it is resolved to your satisfaction. This is business, not charity. You work and are paid for that work. Period. Go in tomorrow and ask for two things: 1. a summary of all your checks and withholdings since you started, and 2. your last check. If you fail to get either announce you are leaving on paid vacation (assuming you have some banked) and not returning until you receive your check. The no pay stub thing could be a red flag as well - I've heard of several companies who stopped paying taxes to stretch out the cash. > Find a new job. Start looking dude. It's time to make a choice for yourself.
- kulachilli 13y agoThanks for your input! The paid vacation is definitely a good plan.
- Chetane 13y ago> had not even been given pay stubs for over half a year In most states, that's actually illegal. Employer is required by law to give you pay stubs.
- redtexture 13y agoDid they issue you a W-2 wages summary last year? There is reason to doubt that they are even paying the payroll taxes to the state and federal tax authorities, that they should be withholding, if they are not issuing a proper pay stub. Indicate you are also reporting the failure to disclose the withheld taxes to the state wage and labor department too. This is illegal, to not give you a pay stub. This kind of behavior taking advantage of employees is the reason there are laws against it, and the reason there are unions. File today for unemployment compensation. Check the online corporations filings for the company with your state's secretary of state. See if the corporation is in good standing, and who the officers of record are of the corporation, and the official address of the entity. Find a new job. The ship is sinking.
