You realize there are tens of thousands fiber lines in a city, right? Tapping fibers going from ISP cusomers to PoPs isn't scalable.
Hiding the equipment from the people working every day on splicing smaller fiber cables to the trunks would also be a major issue.
- anologwintermut 13y agoSorry, most fiber lines is absurd, I should have said they could intercept most of the world's traffic by taping key fiber lines. Say, most of the major underseas ones and any of the major ones traversing the five eyes (US,UK,CA,AU,NZ) + at least Sweden and probably a number of other countries.
