Ask YC: Anyone at WWDC this year?

6 points by yan 17y ago

Anyone going to be at WWDC this year? We should plan a small meet and/or get some beers afterwards.

It'd sure be nice if someone from HN decided to live-blog it (hint hint nudge nudge).

There's going to be dozens (ok maybe not dozens) of blogs live-blogging it already, with way better frequency and quality than I can.
  - icey 17y ago
Well, it doesn't have to be you; but I know I would appreciate someone live-blogging who is a bit stronger technically than your average blogger.

Hopefully Erica Sadun liveblogs it; I think she did it last year, I may be wrong though

If we're talking about the keynote, I'm not sure how much more technical live-blogging could be than the usual suspects: macrumors, engadget(?), etc. They all always blog the announced specs of new stuff, and without a leak or a hands-on, what else could they do?
      - icey 17y ago
I just feel that a more dyed-in-the-wool geek is going to be less bombastic about announcements than someone who gets paid on the back of spectacle.

Apart from the keynote, everything else at WWDC (except the parties throughout the week) is under NDA. If you attend WWDC, you implicitly agree to be held under that NDA. This also means no pictures or videos of the sessions, so I don't know how thorough of job someone could do live-blogging the conference.

Ahhh, I didn't realize all the talks were covered under NDA. Thanks for crushing my dreams. (Seriously though, thanks for letting me know why I haven't noticed much in the way of substantial coverage.)

A bunch of people did that last year on Twitter if I'm not mistaken. You could just start following a bunch of wwdc attendees. (edit: live-tweeting the keynote, not the nda'd sessions, that is...) That being said, I am going to be attending WWDC, and I'm sooo excited! so many events going on during the week though...

I'm going. I'll be happy to meet up with any other HN denizens for beer/coffee/chat/whatever.

Email me? We'll have to create a thread closer to WWDC to get to the front page and advertise again.
