FWIW, as far as we can tell this account was part of a long-running Microsoft astroturfing campaign. You can never be 100% sure of these things, but astroturfers, like spammers, leave trails they don't realize they're leaving.
- hnbanned 13y agoFWIW, the so called campaign is nothing but one Microsoft fanboy who is not affiliated with Microsoft at all. If you started banning fanboys, that'd take out half the prolific posters on here.
- dpweb 13y agoHad to look that up :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturfing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturfing
- Shorel 13y agoYes, even grass-root is not a very translatable word.
- leaffig 13y agoWell, I seriously doubt a Microsoft astroturfing shill would expose insider trading before the acquisition, which would potentially result in MS/Nokia employees getting penalized. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6318733 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6318733 I can assure you that I am just a fan(perhaps overzealous at times, like many on here) and not a shill. Don't know how to prove it to you though, if there was any proof that would convince you let me know, I will provide it. I never worked for or received anything from MS directly or indirectly ever. I don't even own their stock. I just like to play devil's advocate on HN. :/
