I am not an expert in virtualbox, but what is the point of images then..

  It's unfortunate you're having trouble. I'm running the latest (beta) version of VirtualBox and it seems to be fine for me. A VM is not magic, it's emulating real hardware under there - a PIIX4 IDE controller by the look of the settings. You may have better luck picking another option in Settings under Storage.

    Oh well, I have no chance to test this, since ReactOS magically began to start. Thanks for the conversation, anyway.
