Ask HN: Has your book ever been messed with?

I recently found out that certain higher ed textbooks were messed around by the authorized regional publisher(eg: publisher of Indian edition, Chinese edition, etc) of that book. By messed around, I mean, the errors weren't updated or pages were missing and such. Has this ever happened to you as an author, or even as a reader? If so how much of it did/would you tolerate and what actions you might take? I'm just trying to understand what a reasonable course of action would be.
