Posted mostly for the ridiculous quotes by officials:
>“Every day, they are learning how brilliant [Snowden] was,” said a former U.S. official with knowledge of the case. “This is why you don’t hire brilliant people for jobs like this. You hire smart people. Brilliant people get you in trouble.”
>“The damage, on a scale of 1 to 10, is a 12,” said a former intelligence official.
- dylukes 13y agoAgreed. It seems less likely that Snowden is necessarily a brilliant/genius level hacker, and more likely that the permissions/logging/granularity/etc were screwed. For example (hypothetically), you're asking for trouble by having a single rank of sysadmin who can clean out logs after doing whatever they please... or worse yet if you don't log accesses at all.
