As a developer in SF, I've been telling everyone that Portland is the place to be. You can actually live comfortably and (relatively) safely ride your bike to work. Plus, it's undoubtedly a more beautiful city. Unfortunately, I haven't been too impressed with the job selection in Portland. Though, I may be doing my own startup in a few months; Portland may be my spot for seeking residence and capital.
