But engineers with kids can't live there. If you're hiring engineers around 35 y.o., SF is the wrong place to be. We're still in the facebook era with regards to how most founders think about hiring talent. So SF it is. Many of the other places you mention are much more family friendly, and still pretty cool for young people.
