Would he and his military really be so dumb to use chemical weapons when the inspectors are now officialy in the country?
- leokun 13y agoI am not sure inspectors can do much here other than add information. The politics surrounding Syria are complicated and fraught with recent history (Iraq, Afghanistan and Arab spring) such that it is difficult to understand how this will play out. The UN is also a politically complicated organization and ultimately this will be a test of the Syria and Russia relationship. All the while people are dying from gas attacks. It is amazing to think that a government willing to use gas, if true, could sustain the popular support of its people (which is something Syria still has). Some of the fighters on the anti-Syria side are like the Mujahideen, and arming them was probably a mistake in the 1980's. There's the people of Syria safety to consider, and our own.
