- sitharus 13y agoI haven't tried MVC4 yet, I was waiting for async support in Mono. Personally I run everything on a VPS, because I'm not worried about scale. If I was running something larger I'd probably go with Azure.
- chris_mahan 13y agocan't do Select Into in Azure.
- cmircea 13y agoSo run SQL Server in a VM. Or MySQL. Or PostreSQL. Or whatever.
- sargun 13y agoEven with the new dedicated Azure SQL Always-On instances?
- chris_mahan 13y agoi'll check.
- chris_mahan 13y agoAfter some googling and stackoverflowing and msdning, I think any version of SQL on azure does _not_ support "select into". I also found a request to have that added, and in January of 2013, it was closed as "won't do". ( see https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/776409/add-select-into-to-sql-azure https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/776... )
- guiomie 13y agoDid you try with Digital Ocean ?
- kahoon 13y agoAsync support is available in Mono since Mono 3.0: http://www.mono-project.com/Release_Notes_Mono_3.0 http://www.mono-project.com/Release_Notes_Mono_3.0 (ctrl-f for "async")
- wluu 13y agoHave you seen this? http://blog.erikd.org/2013/03/17/run-asp-dot-net-mvc4-on-ubuntu-12-dot-10/ http://blog.erikd.org/2013/03/17/run-asp-dot-net-mvc4-on-ubu...
- friism 13y agoI've got a buildpack working for running ASP.NET apps (including MVC, and also straight-up .NET apps) on Heroku, running on Mono and Linux: http://friism.com/running-net-on-heroku http://friism.com/running-net-on-heroku You can even experiment with the new OWIN/Katana stuff if you like: http://friism.com/running-owin-katana-apps-on-heroku http://friism.com/running-owin-katana-apps-on-heroku
- dazbradbury 13y agoThat's really cool. What surprises me more as an appharbor customer though, is that you've moved to Heroku! I must have missed that news...
