A few years ago, after my grandfather passed, my grandmother asked myself and a few other men in the family to chop wood for her heater for winter. Got up an early fall Sunday morning and we got to it. We were done before noon and walked into her kitchen where she homemade pancakes, biscuits, and omelets at the ready. I'll never forget the satisfied exhaustion and sweet smell and taste of breakfast that morning.
